I Am An Ocelot
Artist Statement:
"I am an Ocelot" features art by Erica Jursic: traditional (gouache, watercolor, acrylic) painter, illustrator, digital artist, and textile weaver. Their work incorporates cultural identity and life experiences as a queer artist of color, child of immigrants and descendent of native Formosan-Taiwanese island people. Many elements of nature: ocean, jungle, plants and animals represent a strong belief in environmental conservation, social justice and intersectional solidarity. They also highlight themes of joy such as celebration of Lunar Festivities, queer BIPOC identity, reclamation of cultural homage, and colorful landscapes.
