Artist Statement:
Salt Lake City based craftswoman, Diane Leaver, has been honing her skills since she learned how to sew in 7th grade home economics. Fast forward to 2023. Now retired from a (31) year teaching career, Diane began a new journey inspired by her love of textiles, patterns, bright colors and fabric fills.
Her exploration through the makers’ world of textile has included everything from using upcycled materials to fabrics sourced in Japan; from embroidery to quilting to her current line of hats.
Diane’s savvy fabric choices has elevated the humble bucket hat into something stylish and fun to wear.
