Artist Statement:
Art by Merm created by Mexican-American Artist, Miriam Gutierrez, features artwork ranging from Illustration drawings, large scale murals, printmaking and wood-burning. Being a "noticer", she finds inspiration everywhere and anywhere creating work that focuses on the finer details of things. Being able to draw in pencil and ink, burning designs into wood and bring paintings to life at a large scale allows her to explore different mediums and keeps life as an artist interesting. Themes such as realism, nature, story telling and identity are deeply rooted in her work.
