The Lost Librarian
Artist Statement:
With a keen eye for potential in the overlooked, and deeply committed to preservation of our natural world, Natalie scours library book sales, thrift stores, and even the occasional recycling bin to find the forgotten items that will become the basis for her art. Focused primarily on discarded books, Natalie's art started with hand bound journals and sketchbooks made from old book covers. Over the last several months, she has developed her art to include handmade and repurposed paper art. Many of Natalie's pieces highlight the words and letters found on the pages of rescued and repurposed books, the beautiful designs of product labels, and the natural texture of handmade paper. Instead of disguising them Natalie seeks to bring attention to these recycled mediums and inspire others to find opportunity in unexpected places.
