Crooked Shed Woodworks
Artist Statement:
Crooked Shed Woodworks is the result of a dream I’ve had since high school. I signed up for the Woodshop class, and enjoyed it so much that I took Woodshop 2 the following year. Years later when the pandemic hit, I had more time and wanted to start working with wood again. A few months later, my wife and I purchased our home with a 100-year-old Crooked Shed. The shed was covered in vines, filled with junk and took weeks to clean out, but so many years after that high school woodshop class, I finally had a shop space to call my own.
I draw my inspiration from functionality, something that stems from my day job as a ski patroller, where every tool we use on the mountain has a purpose. I pride myself on the functionality of my pieces, and I think that translates into my products. I make products that someone will use in their everyday lives, and let their beauty elevate the user experience. Whether someone is hanging a coat on a rack, chopping food for dinner, or serving charcuterie to friends they shouldn’t have to sacrifice quality and design for functionality.
